Celebrate the Mardi Gras Season with your favorite dance team, the 610 Stompers, back from a world renowned stunning performance in New York at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. With some new “Extraordinary Moves” for 2012, the 610 Stompers are presenting their Sweet 610 Debutante Ball II, Electric Boogaloo, on January 27, 2012, 8p.m., at The Sugar Mill, 1021 Convention Center Blvd., in the Warehouse District. Tickets are $40 per ticket before January 13, 2012, and $50 after January 13, 2012. You can contact your favorite 610 Stomper or Split to purchase tickets or go to www.610stompers.com.
“Proceeds of 2012 Electric Boogaloo this year will benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Louisiana.,” said founding 610 Stomper Brett “SLAB” Patron. “Dig in your closet, bust out your favorite 80′s attire, and come support the local chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. If you thought last year was fun, you just wait and get ready for one epic THROWDOWN!”
This year’s Sweet 16 Debutante Ball features: Food from some of New Orleans’ finest restaurants including Drago’s, Chateau du Lac, Link Resturant Group, New Orleans Food & Spirits, Squeal Bar- B- Q, Rotolo’s Pizzeria, Yogurtland, Vincent’s Italian Cuisine, Dos Gringos Food & Spirits, Acme Oyster House, and G.W. Fins; an Open Bar including beer, wine, and liquor; and live entertainment by Band Camp and DJ Hammer. Patrons will adore the fog machines, disco ball, Costume Contest and of course performances throughout the evening by the legendary 610 Stompers!
Since the 610 Stompers are known to be local fashionistas amongst themselves, they’re tweaking things up a notch with a formal flair and want patrons of their ball to do the same. Think 80’s flashback and head to the thrift stores or climb in the attic to find those acid washed punk rock treasures that make you wonder how you ever so cool.
“Think 80’s Prom-A strapless zebra mini-dress, big poufy hair, and hoop earrings will have the guys lining up to dance with you,” said 610 Split Lyndsey Young.
Of course the 80’s theme seems only right after performing to Laura Branigan’s “I Need a Hero” in around the fashion hub of the world in New York at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
“In NYC, I truly feel as if we were surrounded by LOVE,” said John “Coach LoVE Solet. “The crowd embraced the New Orleans spirit.”
“We definitely showed NYC how we do it New Orleans! We had the crowd lovin’ it,” said Erl Schlikk.
“NYC treated us right, and we treated NYC right-Awesome memory,” said Roy “PoBoy the Stache” Oelking.
Be sure to catch the Sweet 610 Debutante Ball II, Electric Boogaloo, January 27, 2012, at The Sugar Mill, 1021 Convention Center Blvd., and ask the “Extraordinary Men” about their amazing New York experiences first hand.
