WHAT: Announcement of exciting new elements of 2011 Bonfire

Councilmember Clarkson and Councilmember Palmer, Fire Chief McConnell and others will present the focus of the 2011 Holiday Bonfire set for Dec. 3. The bonfire has been part of the city’s tradition for more than 20 years, but was on hiatus after Hurricane Katrina until 2010. This year’s event will feature the burning of a massive art installation, FLOODWALL, as a collective public release of the city’s Katrina woes.
The Algiers Holiday Festival & Bonfire is expanded this year to three weekends of activities in Old Algiers. www.algierseconomic.com
