Chef Diana Chauvin To Appear on Food Networks Chopped

New Orleans’s own Chef Diana Chauvin of La Thai Uptown has recently been selected to appear on the Food Networks cooking competition show, Chopped. Chauvin will head to New York City where the competition will be filmed on April 4. (air date TBD).

“The fact that I’ll soon be facing three tough competitors on an incredibly popular, nationally televised show still feels quite surreal,” stated Chauvin. “I’m beyond excited about this awesome opportunity to showcase our distinctive Thai/New Orleans fusion cuisine, but mostly I’m honored to be representing my beloved city. I hope that I do New Orleans proud and bring back the title of Chopped Champion,” she added.

If Chauvin does return to New Orleans victoriously, in addition to the coveted title, she will return home $10,000 richer. “If I do win the money, I plan to give half to my mom, the wonderful woman who instilled in me a strong work ethic and passion for food,” she said. Chauvin plans to donate $2,500 each to Drew Brees’ The Brees Dream Foundation and the Edible Schoolyard New Orleans.

Hosted by Ted Allen, Chopped is a cooking competition show that’s all about skill, speed and ingenuity where four up-and-coming chefs compete before a panel of three expert judges and take everyday items and turn them into an extraordinary three-course meal. Course by course, the chefs will be “chopped” from the competition until only one winner remains. (source: foodnetwork.com.
