I am horrified. How in the world does Marlin Gusman, a man who runs one of the most corrupt and abusive jails in the country, exemplify the spirit of Martin Luther King.
This is disgusting and shameful. Right now people are being raped and beaten inside Orleans Parish Prison, including children.
Gusman is the exact opposite of King.
Irvin Mayfield doesn’t have a clue. This is pathetic political crap, members of the city’s establishment getting together to pat each other on the back while sipping $20 cocktails.
I would like to invite Mayfield to talk to former inmates of OPP and then see if he would like to retract his hollow award to Gusman.
Mr. Mayfield, you have insulted the legacy of Dr. King.

It was nice seeing the information about your Joan of Arc parade tomorrow – a great day for that celebration (being her 600th birthday)! I realy wish we could be there, since I really do appreciate Joan of Arc and would love to join in the celebration. I would have loved getting one of your Mardi Gras cups – it would become a great cup I would use often. Wish that my dad could pick one up when he is down in New Orleans late this month or in February. Have a GREAT celebration!
