The enchanting book, The Cajun Night Before Christmas, will come to life this Holiday Season aboard the Creole Queen Paddlewheeler. The authentic paddlewheeler will play host to a unique and very special Cajun Children’s Holiday Tea Saturday December 3, 10 and 17 featuring Papa Noel, the Cajun Gingerbread Boy, Gaston the Gator and other jolly holiday characters. The fun-filled family festivity will also offer a classic tea with traditional hors d’oeuvres and a bountiful candy buffet. Additionally, each child will receive a stuffed gator to take home. Guests board the Creole Queen at 1:30pm at the foot of Poydras Street at Riverwalk and cruise the mighty Mississippi River from 2-3:30pm. Cost is $49 for adults and $34 for children under 12 years of age. Reservations are required by calling 504.529.4567 or at creolequeen.com.

ABOUT THE CREOLE QUEEN: Constructed in Moss Point, Mississippi, the Creole Queen took her maiden voyage on October 1, 1983. She is an authentic paddlewheeler powered by a 24- foot diameter paddlewheel and the most modern, fuel-efficient GE diesel-electric system ever installed in a boat of this class. Even though the Creole Queen would have been right at home in the New Orleans of 1850, passengers of that era could never have conceived of a paddlewheeler with her luxury, comfort and safety. Ninety tons of air conditioning and heating keep the interior spaces pleasant all year round. Luxurious private rooms, stereo music and sound systems, modern restrooms and handicapped accessible facilities all combine to make this iconic riverboat a true floating palace.

New Orleans Events

Where Ya’t from NewOrleansLocal.com!!! You know you are a New Orleans Local if you know what I mean when I say ‘we’re makin’ groceries or I ask how’s your mam-ane’m’, and that’s who Brett and Cheryl Bauman and WVUE FOX8 are. New Orleans is a city that you just can’t help but fall in love with; from its history and culture, to its fine cuisine that can only be described as uniquely Nawlins. We wanted to give us Locals a single resource guide that describes all of the fascinating things that our city has to offer to us every day and we have done it through the creation of NewOrleansLocal.com. NewOrleansLocal.com is a New Orleans Event Calendar website that is designed on three words: Simple, Complete, and Local. New Orleanians have no single source to go to, to find out what is happening around in the city. Normally, we just ask our friends where they are going or try to sift through the endless internet. We have solved this problem with a simple-to-use Calendar. The calendar is arranged by events that are organized by date into categories such as Music, Food, and Festivals.  So, if you want to know what is happening this weekend in the music world, you can select the music category on the calendar and find out who is playing where in the city. If you don’t know what you want to do this week, you can check out our top picks for the week of fun things to do. If you have a fun event that you recommend, submit your event to us and we will add it to our calendar. It is that simple.
