Sixth annual event includes over 50 wines, gourmet dishes and live music
The Sixth Annual French Quarter Wine Festival is concluding with a Closing Reception and Tasting on Friday, April 27 at 7 p.m. The reception is the culmination of nine weeks of events that included a Grand Tasting on March 2 and wine dinners each Tuesday and Wednesday over the last two months. The Closing Reception will include tastings of over 50 wine labels, featured throughout the Festival, foods crafted by Le Meritage Executive Chef Michael Farrell and live music from Ya’donna West and her Jazz Ensemble.
French Quarter Wine Festival, modeled after the prestigious Boston Wine Festival, has become a spring tradition for Le Meritage Restaurant and the Maison Dupuy Hotel. 2012 marked the Festival’s most ambitious celebration yet, with a total of 16 events throughout March and April. As the scale of the event evolved, so did the audience.
“One of the greatest things about theFestival is the audience that it attracts,” says Morty Valldejuli, general manager of the Maison Dupuy Hotel. “We see a broad range of ages and try to create an event that appeals to everyone from the experienced sommelier to people just discovering their love of wines. We take down the intimidation factor to create an experience that is informative and fun.”
The Closing Reception falls on the first day of Jazz Festival, giving music lovers a chance to wine and wind down at the end of the day.
“Our Closing Reception is the perfect kick off to Jazz Festival, says Executive Chef Michael Farrell of Le Meritage restaurant. “We have incredible food, wines from around the world and live music, without the hassle of long lines. This is the best time of year in the city and we welcome everyone to come out and celebrate Festival Season with us.”
Tickets for the event are on sale for $65 plus tax and gratuity. To purchase tickets or for additional information, please visit www.frenchquarterwinefestival.com or call 504-648-6113.
