In a city where Po-Boy shops and beignets seem to be around every corner, a FRESH niche in Uptown has finally been filled. It’s been about two months since FRESH BAR opened on Magazine Street, bringing a delicious meal option through its salad bar concept, while adding a touch of modern flair through its design.
The salad bar features 40+ toppings of fresh fruits, veggies, and several homemade dressings ready for customers to design their perfect salad or wrap.
Owner Ellie Thomas, a New Orleans native, is proud to have gained such a supportive and dedicated community of followers right off the bat. As a matter of fact, two of the most popular dressings were created because of customer suggestions.
“Customers wanted an oil-free dressing, we answered by making TWO,” Thomas said. “We try our best to make everyone happy.”
At FRESH BAR, customers have the option to pop in on the fly for a meal-to-go or dine in at the restaurant’s “fresh space,” which includes indoor and outdoor seating.
Architect/Designer, and Thomas’ friend, Stuart Helo, of CHO+HELO, brought every little detail of the FRESH BAR vision to life through crisp simplistic design with small pops of green to represent the theme of the FRESH products.
The modern and sleek aluminum FRESH BAR signs were created locally by Ed Renton, owner of State Machinery Equipment in Kenner and applied to the space by Mike Ricks, of Signworx.
“Every detail from the modern light fixtures to the comfy bench cushion displays what FRESH BAR is about, which is a place where you can come and find a FRESH, healthy meal and eat it in a FRESH, comfortable environment,” Thomas said.
FRESH BAR is located at 6101 Magazine Street (corner of Magazine and Webster) and is open Monday – Saturday from 11am to 7pm.
