The most unique festival of its kind in the country, FestiGals, has selected Rhonda Shear as the event’s Keynote Speaker. Forbes Magazine describes the successful model, actress and entrepreneur as the “Queen of Reinvention.” Originally from New Orleans, Shear currently oversees a multi-million dollar lingerie empire headquartered in St. Petersburg, Florida. In many ways, Shear’s career path is a model for women seeking to redefine themselves after age 40. Shear’s intimate wear is only chapter two of her life.
Chapter one began as a young beauty queen when she got her first big commercial break and was hired to host USA Network’s weekend show USA Up All Night. Four hundred episodes later, Shear was well on her way. With a string of co-starring roles in several popular television sitcoms including Married with Children, Happy Days, Dallas and Cheers, she became a household name in the 1980s and 90s. Twenty-six years in Hollywood had laid the groundwork for the corporation that Shear would go on to build with her brand Rhonda Shear Intimates.
With success and fame, Shear immersed herself in the community around her lending both her name and her resources to organizations like Habitat for Humanity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and The American Cancer Society. While serving as the event chairwoman for ACS in St. Petersburg, Shear was inspired by the breast cancer survivors she met. Today, she is a champion for breast cancer awareness, education and early detection and is currently working on a line of products specifically designed for women who have been through breast cancer surgery. Shear also continues her lifelong love affair with arts and entertainment by serving on the board of the Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts and the Mahaffey Theater Foundation. Her keynote speech will be delivered at FestiGals signature event, the Bodacious Bras for a Cause Luncheon presented by Ray Brandt Infiniti and Porsche of New Orleans. The high-energy celebration where artfully designed bras from celebrities are auctioned off dedicates the proceeds to the Cancer Association of Greater New Orleans, a non-profit United Way community impact partner.
