The Jefferson Parish Library and WYES will partner to present a preview of one of the most
phenomenally popular series in MASTERPIECE history, “Downton Abbey,” as it returns for an exciting second season!
The event will be held on Tuesday, January 3 at the East Bank Regional Library, 4747 W. Napoleon Avenue,
Metairie. Beginning at 7:00 p.m. Vianne’s Tea House will provide a lesson on the proper etiquette for serving
British tea. The hour-long preview of “Downton Abbey, Season 2” will begin at 7:30 p.m.
The event is free of charge and is open to the public. Seating is available on a first come-first served basis. Refreshments will be provided: Cheese will be provided by Cabot Creamery, a farm family-owned cooperative located in Vermont that produces all natural cheese. Northshore merchant, Vianne’s Tea House, will offer warm scones and English teas. Coffee will be provided by the library.
Guests will have a chance to win a hardcover copy of the book, The World of Downton Abbey; one ticket to the
Jane Austen Tea at Vianne’s on March 10; and two tickets to A Winter’s Celebration, a five premium single-malt
scotch whisky tasting event set for January 6 at the Deutsches Haus. All attendees will receive a “Downton Abbey, Season 2″ bookmark.
Season 2 of multiple Emmy winner (including Outstanding Miniseries!) “Downton Abbey” resumes the story of
aristocrats and servants of Downton Abbey during the tumultuous World War I era. The international hit, written by Julian Fellowes, stars Dame Maggie Smith, Elizabeth McGovern and Hugh Bonneville, as well as a drawing room full of new actors, portraying the loves, feuds and sacrifices of a glittering culture thrown into crisis. Laura Linney hosts.
