River Bend Bakery Makes Gift Giving Easy

The Holidays are here again, but with work and running around some people want all the delicious holiday baking to come easily, and that’s where River Bend Bakery comes in just like Santa’s little elves.  River Bend Bakery is located at 2824 Sharon St Kenner, LA, off of Veteran’s Blvd., 7 blocks past Loyola. They are open Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and on Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m.  River Bend Bakery can be reached at 504-305-2950 or on their website at www.riverbendbakery.com where you can order directly off their site and have scrumptious gifts delivered.

River Bend Bakery offers gift baskets and boxes for all occasions (party platters, get well soon, hostess gifts, birthday, anniversary, holiday’s) from $20 and up.  They can also customize a basket based on budget, sentiment, color coordination, incorporation of your own items, and more!   They can also create that special favor for guests at weddings, debutante parties, carnival balls, corporate events, and even something for that special office party or New Year’s Eve bash.

The owners of River Bend Bakery refuse to cut any corners and use only the freshest whole ingredients to produce a high quality product.  They enjoy the process of creating new original recipes for old time classics, and their pralines taste like a bite of heaven.  River Bend Bakery Owner, Christine Cruz, explained how a passion for baking became such a delicious reality.

“We found each other and our passion for cooking during childhood, but never considered cooking as a profession. Neither of us knew exactly what we wanted to do, we just knew we wanted to own our own business. So we both set off to get business degrees from UNO. After graduating, we both had a difficult time finding our place in the business world, so we looked at what we truly enjoyed …food. Mike attended culinary school and I taught myself the art making of confections,” said Christine Cruz. “Then Hurricane Katrina reminded us that life is short, and unpredictable. So we decided there was no better time to ‘go for it’ and build our dream. The recipes aren’t the only thing we made from scratch, in 2007, we turned a warehouse in Kenner into a first class commercial kitchen with the intention of bringing people classics like peanut brittle, pralines and biscotti at an unbelievable value. You can come in and buy any of our items, or order online and pick up in store or have it shipped. We also offer local hand delivery and post all special events and cooking demos on our Facebook page, and offer extended hours during holidays.”

As a locally owned business, River Bend Bakery finds their Pralines, Almond Biscotti and Peanut Brittle flying off the shelves as fast as they mix it up and create it during this time of year. The owners believe that sourcing their ingredients locally whenever possible to produce a product of highest quality, offering customer service that is second to none by treating every gift like it was for a member of their family by including hand written messages, and making sure their customers leave with a little lagniappe makes the difference.  Be sure to stop in today to make your gift giving a little easier this year and be sure to have one of their decadent biscotti cookies or unforgettable pralines.

New Orleans Events

Where Ya’t from NewOrleansLocal.com!!! You know you are a New Orleans Local if you know what I mean when I say ‘we’re makin’ groceries or I ask how’s your mam-ane’m’, and that’s who Brett and Cheryl Bauman and WVUE FOX8 are. New Orleans is a city that you just can’t help but fall in love with; from its history and culture, to its fine cuisine that can only be described as uniquely Nawlins. We wanted to give us Locals a single resource guide that describes all of the fascinating things that our city has to offer to us every day and we have done it through the creation of NewOrleansLocal.com. NewOrleansLocal.com is a New Orleans Event Calendar website that is designed on three words: Simple, Complete, and Local. New Orleanians have no single source to go to, to find out what is happening around in the city. Normally, we just ask our friends where they are going or try to sift through the endless internet. We have solved this problem with a simple-to-use Calendar. The calendar is arranged by events that are organized by date into categories such as Music, Food, and Festivals.  So, if you want to know what is happening this weekend in the music world, you can select the music category on the calendar and find out who is playing where in the city. If you don’t know what you want to do this week, you can check out our top picks for the week of fun things to do. If you have a fun event that you recommend, submit your event to us and we will add it to our calendar. It is that simple.
