Rock n” Roll Mardi Gras Marathon & 1/2 Marathon benefitting American Cancer Society

“Join the Carnival Parade at Rock ‘n’ Roll Mardi Gras Marathon & 1/2 Marathon benefiting the American Cancer Society on February 13, 2011. New Orleans is a city primarily below sea level, so the marathon and half marathon are flat and fast – perfect for runners and walkers of all ability levels. Live bands, cheer squads and themed aid stations add spirit and inspiration as you run through the historical and scenic sites of the city. Both routes start on Tchoupitoulas Street & Race Street and head west on Tchoupitoulas. While on the course enjoy beautiful sites such as: Audobon Park, St. Louis Cathedral and St. Louis Cemetery. The course finishes at oak tree lined City Park by Tad Gormley Stadium, but the carnival doesn’t stop yet! Stay at the Finish Line Village and enjoy the free Headliner Concert while sipping a cold refreshment from MGD 64. Enjoy your Stay, because New Orleans has much to offer! For a listing of participating hotels and suggested activities, please visit http://mardi-gras.competitor.com/travel/. Although Fat Tuesday is not until March 8, the party never stops in New Orleans. The city has a very diverse culture, which can be seen by touring the streets or visiting one of the great museums such as, New Orleans Museum of Art. Treat yourself to Cajun style food while listening to jazz or zydecho music, after all New Orleans is the birthplace of jazz. Rock ‘n’ Roll Mardi Gras is a running event fit for royalty; hop on board and join the parade.”
