House of Blues New Orleans, August 30th, 2012 — 8pm
August 30th, 2012, House of Blues will be hosting “WE HEART MIKE.” This is a show and benefit to raise money for HOB’S former House engineer, Mike Mayeux.
Mike has been a standard in the music recording scene for the last 20 years, recording such acts as 50 cent, Cowboy Mouth, The Radiators, Anders Osborne, Papa Grows Funk, Bonerama, Susan Cowsill, Herman Ernest, and many more.
Recently, Mike was hospitalized to repair a defective valve in his heart. Since this was always considered a pre-existing condition, Mike was never able to obtain health insurance and must pay his expenses out of pocket. During the operation, there were complications which led to a blod clot in his right foot. Mike is facing possible amputation and his bills are currently totaling over $500,000.
Musicians, friends and family are joining forces to put together a concert and a silent auction to raise money to help alleviate his costs. The show will consist of some the finest New Orleans musicians that will donate their time for this event. It will feature Papa Grows Funk, Susan Cowsill, The Creole String Beans, Paul Sanchez, Bonerama, and (if Mike is able to make it), he will appear with his band BeatinPath to perform a few songs from their collection of tunes.
