2018 Carnaval Latino Celebrates Our Tricentennial with New Orleans’ Tropical Wave

2018 Carnaval Latino The Hispanic American Musicians and Artists Cultural Association (H.A.M.A.C.A.) is pleased to announce that it will be celebrating New Orleans’s 300th Birthday the weekend of October 13, 2018 with its renown Carnaval Latino. Closing the NATIONAL HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH, Carnaval Latino offers attendees a tour of Spain and the Americas without leaving the Crescent City.

WHERE TO GO

  • LATIN RHYTHMS AT THE SQUARE: From 2:00 pm until the parade, festival goers will enjoy the best in Latin music, art, food and drink, at Washington Square Park in the Marigny, one of the most vibrant neighborhoods of the most memorable city in this country! Admission is free.
  • PARADE OF THE AMERICAS: At 6:30 pm Carnaval Latino’s continues with its Desfile de las Americas, which winds through our historic French Quarter, where Spanish architecture abounds, a sector rebuild from the ashes of two great fires by the Spanish governors of Louisiana in the late 1700. It ends at the Warehouse District where trade with Latin America helped make our city the Gateway to the Americas.   • LA PARRANDA: At 9:00 pm Post parade will be held at the Joy Theater (1200 Canal Street, New Orleans) with dance performances by Héctor Elpidio Acosta, better known as El Torito, performer of merengue, bolero and bachata music from Dominican Republic, Ballet Folklorico of South Texas College and more. Admission is $35.00
  • POST PARADE PARTY: And the party continues at HOUSE OF BLUES (225 Decatur St, New Orleans),  “BAMBOLEO NIGHT”, this world known venue, provides several areas to enjoy. Admission is $15.00

HONOREES: This year’s Queen of Carnaval is Christina Rodriguez-Fierro.
