2nd Annual Cook-Off For The Coast: Wild Game Edition
Restore the Mississippi River Delta, in partnership with the Meraux Foundation, Vanishing Paradise and the St. Bernard Parish Coastal Department, will present the second annual Cook-Off for the Coast on February 9.This family-friendly event will feature free tastings from cook teams who will be preparing dishes of wild game from Louisiana’s coastal wetlands. Pirogue’s Whiskey Bayou will offer a cash bar, and musical entertainment will be provided by The Michot Melody Makers, an electric string band pushing the boundaries of Cajun traditional music. There will also be activities for kids, including face painting and crafts.
What To Expect
Cook-Off for the Coast brings together family fun, good music and delicious food while raising awareness for coastal restoration! The cook teams will provide sample dishes that highlight the bounty of coastal Louisiana in one or more of the following categories: Water (fish, shellfish, reptiles, etc.), Air (duck, etc.), Land (game, deer, wild boar, etc.) and Best Overall. Judges will select winners in each category. Proceeds will benefit the St. Bernard Parish 4-H’s and Nunez Community College’s work on coastal restoration. Information on coastal restoration, invasive species, and storm water management will be available onsite.
