Beauty Tip: Dry Skin Solutions

Dry-Skin-SolutionsWe do not have a lot of cold weather in New Orleans. Normally, we suffer through very hot days and extremely warm evenings both filled with lots of humidity. When the humidity drops and the temperature gets cooler, we may enjoy the cooler weather, but our skin may start to get dry. If you are one of the many that suffer from dry skin, you understand how the flaky, dull skin can really become an irritating problem during the winter months.

Don’t Suffer With Dry Skin

Earthsavers has developed a three step process to remedy dry skin problems: Prevention, Exfoliate and Moisturize.

Did you know that our bodies are 70% water? It is extremely important to stay hydrated. If you do not drink enough water, you will get dehydrated which adds to dry skin development. A quick trick is to try to drink half of your body weight in ounces of filtered water. Plus, make sure that you are getting enough Omega 3’s. Omega 3 fatty acids reduce inflammation and also keep your skin moisturized and elastic (which also will help to make you look refreshed and youthful).

Quick Prevention Tips:

  1. Avoid Very Hot Showers
  2. Wear Sunscreen
  3. Get 7-9 Hours Sleep Every Day

Did you know that our skin cells turnover about every 28 days? Exfoliation helps to prevent dull, grey skin and will help your moisturizer work better. When you exfoliate, your skin should feel softer immediately.

Quick Exfoliation Tips:

  1. Use A Natural Bristle Dry Brush
  2. Start at your feet and brush upwards
  3. Use firm strokes upward or in a circular motion
  4. For the stomach, use a counterclockwise pattern

Once you have hydrated and exfoliated, you need to make sure that you keep all of that moisture in. There are a variety options including lotion, oils, and even coconut oil. Find a product that you like and will use regularly.
