Gallery Talk: An Ideal Unity: The Bauhaus & Beyond with Benjamin Benus
As director of the Bauhaus printing and advertising workshop from 1925 to 1928, the Austrian-born artist Herbert Bayer helped to shape the school’s distinctive approach to graphic design. This talk, presented in conjunction with the exhibition An Ideal Unity: The Bauhaus and Beyond, considers how Bayer, following his immigration to the United States in 1938, continued to explore and develop Bauhaus design principles within a variety of media, including book illustration, advertising, and exhibition design.
