The Arthur Roger Gallery is pleased to present Ruminations, an exhibition of kinetic sculpture by Lin Emery. The exhibition will be on view at Arthur Roger Gallery, located at 432 Julia Street, from March 3 – April 21, 2018. The gallery will host an opening reception with the artist in attendance on Saturday, March 3 from 6 – 8 pm.
The exhibition of new work by the accomplished 92-year-old sculptor features small-scale kinetic sculpture along with one large piece. All of the sculptures are literal and figurative and are derived from what Lin Emery has encountered in nature. “The sculptures continue my sight to record the moving world that I see around me. The shapes of the elements echo forms of trees, flowers, birds, levees, and waves,” says Emery. The sculpture honors the only vegetation that survived the bombing of Hiroshima called Hibakujumoku. Several pieces are versions of somersaults and Return intends to portray the infinity concept of “Ouroboros”.
