Majid Bekkas is the most famous Moroccan Gnaoua musician on the planet. He performed Worldwide with different Jazz fusion bands and played with musicians such as Archie Shepp, Pharoah Sanders, Johachim Kuhn, to name a few.
Majid released more than 20 albums with different musicians and bands from Morocco and abroad.
His record “Makemba” released in 2010 was selected by “Songlines” magazine as the best Gnawa fusion album and his latest record “Magic Spirit Quartet” released in 2020 was selected by Downbeat magazine as Editor’s Choice.
Majid is touring the US for the release of his new album “Jodour” (Roots). from October 7th to October 23rd, 2022.
