New Orleans Film Festival 2019
New Orleans is known in some cinema circles as Hollywood South, thanks to a nonstop loop of big-to-small-budget films and TV shows shot around town. That translates to a burgeoning local film production scene, a deep pool of talent that is showcased every October at the Oscar-qualifying New Orleans Film Festival.

What To Expect
The festival, produced since 1989 by the New Orleans Film Society, screens all sorts of local and global voices while providing an opportunity for new and established storytellers to premiere their latest works.
Attended by thousands of producers, directors, writers, actors and industry professionals, the 10-day event also attracts film fanatics keen to see movies like “12 Years a Slave,” “Carol” and “Beasts of the Southern Wild” before their general release. And besides the industry networking, seminars and screenings, fest-goers are treated to a blockbuster list of events, parties and even a second line or two in true New Orleans style.
The films are shown at various venues throughout the city. There are admissions charges to the various productions and the public is invited.
