Lighting Of The Balconies

The Royal Sonesta on Bourbon St. is all decked out for the holidays. The hotel’s wrought iron balconies were illuminated on Wednesday, December 4th. Two patients from Children’s Hospital flipped the switch during the traditional lighting ceremony.

This year, the hotel’s holiday theme is “Royal Snownesta”. WGNO ABC 26’s Kenny Lopez emceed the event and The Nayo Jones Experience entertained the crowed with Holiday Jazz favorites.

The Lighting of the balconies is only one part of its cooperation with  Children’s Hospital. The hotel actually partners closely with Children’s Hospital. The Royal Sonesta collects toys for a Toy Drop, it also hosts patients at a  Royal Teddy Bear Tea and even brings the Royal Teddy Bear Tea to the inpatients at Children’s Hospital.

“Children’s Hospital New Orleans is proud to be a part of this very special event to officially kickoff the holiday season in New Orleans,” said Children’s Hospital President and CEO John R. Nickens IV about Lighting of the Balconies in a press release. “Giving our patients the opportunity to be part of the Lighting of the Balconies is a very special moment. It is incredible to see the spirit of joy and hope that this season brings to the kids.” he added.
