New Orleans Ballet Theatre presents Giselle at The Orpheum Theater
This coming May 25th, New Orleans Ballet Theatre (NOBT) will present one of the most famous and treasured classical ballets of all time, Giselle, at the historic Orpheum Theater in downtown New Orleans.
New Orleans Ballet Theatre is reintroducing the city to professional, full-length classical ballet productions by establishing a main stage performance each spring. With the dancers of New Orleans Ballet Theatre and a select group of young dancers from the city, this production will be an exciting addition to NOBT’s repertoire. Among the returning NOBT dancers are Jennifer Kronenberg and Carlos Guerra, who will be playing the roles of Giselle and Albrecht. Both dancers are founding members of NOBT, have had illustrious careers as principals with Miami City Ballet, and are now artistic directors of Dimensions Dance in Miami. Felicia McPhee, who premiered with NOBT as the Dew Drop Fairy in the Nutcracker, will be dancing the role of Myrtha, Queen of the Wilis.
“Giselle is classical ballet at its finest. Since its first production 177 years ago on June 28th, 1841 in Paris, it has continuously been in the repertory and continues to be one of the most well-known and beloved of all the classical ballets. We look forward to bringing this beautiful story of passion, betrayal, love, and redemption to the stage.” – Gregory Schramel, Artistic Director
For fifteen years, New Orleans Ballet Theatre has set the standard for excellence in dance in New Orleans. Annual Summer Solstice and Nutcracker performances have seamlessly blended dancers of international renown and local professional aspirants. Giselle will be no different.
Consistent with NOBT’s belief that quality ballet should be accessible to all regardless of background, New Orleans Ballet Theatre will be donating tickets to Giselle to underprivileged students of New Orleans schools and organizations.
