GiveNOLA DAY IS THE 2ND DAY OF MAY!
Author: Sallie F. Arnoult
“GiveNOLA Day is a 24-hour event hosted by the Greater New Orleans Foundation to inspire people to give generously to non-profit organizations that are making our region stronger, creating a thriving community for all. GiveNOLA Day raises money for the community, brings new donors to local nonprofits, and shows that anyone can be a philanthropist. Last year’s event raised $4 million from 28,000+ donations across the nation. This year, we hope to do even more! GiveNOLA Day is based on other successful giving days hosted by community foundations across the country.” (givenola.org)
There are so many wonderful and deserving 501(c)3 non-profit organizations in the Metro New Orleans area. GiveNOLA Day begins at 12:00:01 a.m. and will end at 11:59:59 p.m. on May 2, 2017. All event-related donations must be made online during the 24-hour period at www.givenola.org. The non-profits run the gamut from healthcare to education to child welfare to animal welfare to… well, you get the idea. It’s an extensive list worth studying before you decide who you would like to make a tax deductible donation to. The minimum donation is $10. If you cannot decide on a single recipient, GiveNOLA has a Lagniappe Fund through which the funds are dispersed across the board in proportion to the amount of funds raised on GiveNOLA Day.
New this year, donors can begin making early online donations starting on April 25, 2017. To schedule a donation, a donor must create an account on GiveNOLA.org. The donor will receive a confirmation email upon submitting the form. The payment will be processed on May 2, 2017, at which time the donor will receive an email receipt for their generous tax deductible donation. Mark your calendar to make your donation at www.givenola.org today! A win-win situation!
