The annual Gleason Gras gala recently returned to Generations Hall in New Orleans, providing an evening of spirited fundraising and vital awareness for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease. Hosted by New Orleans Saints legend Steve Gleason, the gala serves as the primary fundraiser for the Team Gleason Foundation, an organization he established after his own diagnosis with ALS in 2011.
This year’s event, celebrating its 13th year, exemplified the city’s unique blend of philanthropy and celebration. Attendees enjoyed an atmosphere filled with live music, delicious New Orleans cuisine and drinks, and the chance to participate in both silent and live auctions. While the setting was lively, the purpose remained serious: to raise funds to combat the devastating effects of ALS.
The Team Gleason Foundation’s mission is not only to generate public awareness but also to actively support those living with ALS. Funds raised at Gleason Gras go toward providing innovative technology and equipment—like eye-tracking computers and specialized wheelchairs—and advocating for improved quality of life for patients and their families. Gleason Gras is more than just a party; it’s a critical moment for the New Orleans community to rally behind a cause championed by one of its heroes, demonstrating resilience and a commitment to helping those affected by this challenging disease.
