Event Date: November 2, 2025 |
The annual Heroes Who Cook event is one of the Northshore’s most exciting charity fundraisers, blending gourmet food, friendly competition, and community spirit for a vital cause. Held this year on Sunday, November 2, 2025, the event took place on the unique rooftop of the St. Tammany Parish Justice Center Parking Garage in Covington, LA, providing a festive, open-air setting.
The Recipe for Impact
Heroes Who Cook is the signature fundraiser for the Children’s Advocacy Center – Hope House, a local nonprofit dedicated to providing hope, healing, and justice for victims of child abuse and human trafficking in St. Tammany and Washington parishes.
The format is a fun, competitive cook-off:
- Teams: Local “celebrities” (prominent community, business, or political leaders) team up with professional chefs from the Northshore’s top restaurants.
- Competition: The teams prepare a gourmet tasting dish for all event patrons to sample.
- Awards: Two major culinary awards are decided—the “People’s Choice” award, voted on by attendees, and the “Judges’ Choice” award, decided by a panel of culinary experts in a blind tasting.
More Than Just a Meal
The event extends beyond the food competition itself. The “heroes” don’t just cook; they spend weeks beforehand raising money for Hope House through special promotions, with the team raising the most earning the “Most Money Raised” award.
The evening is a complete party experience, including complimentary beverages, live music from popular bands like Groovy 7, and both live and silent auctions featuring luxury items and unique experiences. By purchasing a ticket or participating in the auctions, attendees directly fund essential services like free counseling sessions and forensic interviews for children who have suffered abuse. Heroes Who Cook is a powerful example of how the Northshore uses local talent and generosity to support one of the community’s most vulnerable populations.
