Musical Storytime In Storyland – Where The Wild Things Are

This fall Storyland in City Park is trying something new. They are working together with the Louisiana Philharmonic orchestra and invite you to come over and enjoy “Musical Storytime.”

The event series will take place on Saturdays from 10:30am to 11am under the Storyland castle. On Saturday November 7 you and your children will be treated to a musical journey of Where The Wild Things Are. Clarinetist Daniel Parrette will play to accompany Maurice Sendak’s Where the Wild Things Are.

What To Expect At Musical Storytime

The musician will play a demo on their instrument, explain a little bit about their instrument and their background, then we’ll read the story with musical accompaniment. Finally, the reader will have Q&A if kids want to ask the musician anything at all! This experience is free with $5 admission to Storyland.

About Where The Wild Things Are

Where The Wild Things Are is a beloved 1963 children’s picture book by American writer and illustrator Maurice Sendak. The story follows a little boy named Max.  After dressing in his wolf costume and wreaking havoc through his household he is sent to bed. That’s when Max’s bedroom undergoes a mysterious transformation into a jungle. Then Max sails to an island inhabited by malicious beasts known as the “Wild Things.” If you want to find out how Max tames the beasts and becomes a king, head over to City Park’s Storyland on November 7th.
