Scales & Ales: A Night for Ocean Conservation

Event Date: November 7, 2025 |

Scales & Ales is one of New Orleans’ premier fall social events, transforming the Audubon Aquarium and Audubon Insectarium into an exclusive, adults-only party. Held this year on Friday, November 7, 2025, the event draws thousands of guests for a dazzling night of fun, all while supporting vital wildlife conservation efforts.

Party with the Piranhas

The atmosphere of Scales & Ales is truly unique. Attendees, often dressed in cocktail attire, get to wander the halls of the Aquarium and Insectarium after hours, viewing the exhibits—from the massive Gulf of Mexico tank to the exotic insects—in a totally different light. The venue, situated on the riverfront, offers stunning views of the Mississippi River.

The event is essentially an elaborate all-inclusive food and drink festival. Over 40 local restaurants and caterers provide gourmet tasting bites, which are paired with an open bar featuring a wide selection of craft cocktails and local beers (ales). Live music, often from popular local bands, keeps the party going, with multiple stages set up throughout the sprawling downtown campus. It’s a fantastic blend of sophisticated nightlife and educational wonder.

A Cause for Conservation

More than just a party, Scales & Ales is the main fundraising event for the Audubon Nature Institute downtown. Proceeds from the night directly support the Audubon’s mission, specifically the Audubon Aquarium Rescue program.

This program is Louisiana’s only responder for stranded and injured marine mammals and sea turtles. The funds help pay for transportation, veterinary care, and the supplies needed to rescue, rehabilitate, and eventually release these endangered animals back into the wild. By purchasing a ticket, guests are actively contributing to the health of the Gulf of Mexico ecosystem and promoting hands-on learning for future generations of ocean stewards. The event is a compelling way to use New Orleans’ love for celebration to fund science and saving marine life.
