About The Evening

Join the evening’s host, WGNO’s Kenny Lopez, News with a Twist Reporter and be among the friends, family and healthcare providers that support and celebrate the 19 women who completed the six-month, You Night Empowerment Training Program.  These women have been given skills that help them overcome the physical and psychological challenges of cancer treatment through teamwork, coaching, and professional modeling courses, while building strong interpersonal bonds with other survivors.

“Many women who have been diagnosed with cancer find that it is difficult to embrace their “new normal. Life, post-cancer, comes with ongoing challenges related to body issues, questions of mortality, or the fear of recurrence”, said Lisa McKenzie, You Night Founder. “You Night is a strong sisterhood of support, disguised as runway training, where women find strength in these friendships and learn that their new normal can actually be incredibly strong, when they are given the right tools for success.”

About You Night

In 2013, Lisa McKenzie established You Night, a year-round program that helps cancer survivors adapt to and embrace their life post diagnosis, as many patients experience emotional and mental issues. You Night embodies its unique goal to create fun and empowering group experiences for women who are looking for a sisterhood of support.

Since the program’s the inception, over 250 cancer survivors in St. Tammany and New Orleans have taken part in the You Night curriculum, a program that is available in select cities, including St. Tammany Parish and New Orleans. The St. Tammany participants will walk the runway on Thursday, October 26th. The You Night program is a six-month empowerment training program that is gifted to participants who are referred to the program through physicians, and is completely funded through sponsorship and event ticket sales.

You Night plans year-round programs for female cancer survivors, including a summer weekend retreat and monthly get-togethers that are empowering and fun.  Information about the programs can be found on the company’s website,
