Mardi Gras BBQ Monday with James Beard Semifinalists – Sophina Uong and Hunter Evans

In celebration of Carnival season, 2024 James Beard Semifinalists Sophina Uong and Hunter Evans will host a very special Madi Gras BBQ Monday at Mister Mao on Monday, February 5th from 5-9 PM. The evening will showcase the talent of Chef Hunter Evans of Elvie’s – the Jackson, Mississippi restaurant dedicated to supporting Southern farmers and foodways.
Featuring a special menu highlighting Mississippi French cuisine and live fire cooking, a la carte offerings include Flambadou Oysters with crab fat sausage and BBQ rub; Hush Puppies and Caviar; Boudin Stuffed Pig Trotter with crackers and mustard; Beef Tongue “Brisket” with Russian dressing and dill salad; and Gumbo ze Escargot with French bread, greens and rice. Guests can also enjoy Mister Mao’s regular a la carte dinner menu.
