29th New Orleans International Piano Competition

$30 – $35The Musical Arts Society of New Orleans (MASNO) presents the 29th New Orleans International Piano Competition (NOIPC). Carefully selected from over 200 international auditions, representing twenty-eight countries, twelve of the world’s top emerging pianists have been invited to New Orleans as semifinalists to compete for cash, performance, and recording prizes totaling over $100,000. Prizes include concerto performances with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra; solo concerts at Merkin Hall in New York City, Musical Excursion Series at University of New Orleans, and others. Steinway & Sons is the premier sponsor of the NOIPC and provides the gold medalist a studio recording on the Steinway & Sons label.
The New Orleans International Piano Competition is a member of the Alink-Argerich Foundation.
The competition is held concurrently with the New Orleans Keyboard Festival and Piano Institute. The New Orleans Piano Institute includes masterclasses as well as recitals featuring the students of the institute that are open to the public and free of charge. Guest Artist, Alexander Korsantia, former gold medalist of the Artur Rubenstein Piano Master Competition and First Prize winner of the Sidney International Piano Competition, will open the Keyboard Festival with a recital featuring works of Franz Schubert, Josef Haydn, and Igor Stravinsky. Korsantia, dubbed “a major artist” by the Miami Herald is praised for the clarify of his technique and dynamic phrasing. Through his interpretations, Korsantia carefully and seamlessly showcases the full range of musical emotions and possibilities, proving him to be one of the world’s master musicians.
