A New Landmark on Napoleon: The Opening of The Josephine

[adrotate group="1"]

Event Date: November 4, 2025 |

New Orleans’ event scene gained a magnificent new player with the official opening of The Josephine on Napoleon Avenue. Located in the Garden District/Uptown area, this stunning venue is the reimagining of the former Our Lady of Lourdes Church, a historic and beautiful structure originally built in 1923 that had been shuttered since Hurricane Katrina.

History Meets High-Tech

The team behind The Josephine undertook a massive renovation to transform the old church into a state-of-the-art event space while meticulously preserving its historic grandeur. The main hall features soaring ceilings and an iconic 130-foot overhead dome. This dome now boasts modern technology, including projection mapping, allowing event planners to create breathtaking visual displays that transform the atmosphere instantly—a dazzling fusion of 20th-century architecture and 21st-century tech.

The venue also features a large, elegant courtyard, offering both indoor and outdoor options for a variety of events, from galas and corporate functions to weddings. Its total reception capacity can host up to 700 people, making it one of the largest and most spectacular new event spaces in the city.

The Grand Unveiling

While the specific event on November 4th is not public knowledge, the venue was set to host its first major public event, a high-profile “Napa Meets NOLA” reunion dinner with renowned local chefs Dickie Brennan and Susan Spicer, shortly after the start of November. This signaled the venue’s entry into the city’s top tier of hospitality spaces.

The opening of The Josephine represents more than just a new place to hold a party; it’s a successful example of adaptive reuse, breathing new life into a beloved, historic building that had sat vacant for years. By revitalizing this architectural landmark, The Josephine adds a unique, luxurious option to the city’s event landscape, ensuring its legacy continues for future generations.
