Snug Harbor Livestreams Ellis Marsalis Jr. Tribute Every Friday
New Orleans Jazz club Snug Harbor is paying homage to legendary jazz pianist and educator Ellis Marsalis, Jr. with a series of live stream tribute concerts. Every Friday night at 8 pm Snug Harbor will livestream the “E Nights” tribute series kicked off on April 10th. Marsalis’ closest bandmates, fellow musicians, and students called the jazz legend “E”.
Organizers say each Friday will feature different musicians, most of them New Orleanians, performing live tributes to Marsalis from their homes, porches, yards, and studios.
You can log on to watch and listen to the virtual concert series via the Snug Harbor Instagram and/or Facebook page.
Ellis Marsalis died April 1st at the age of 85 due to complications from a presumed case of COVID-19. Marsalis played a weekly gig at a small New Orleans club, Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro, for three decades before retiring just last year.
