Garden District Book Shop “Dig Me a Grave” Author Event

Richard “Dick” Harpootlian, the South Carolina attorney internationally known for his unfiltered and colorful style and his role in high-profile cases including defending Alex Murdaugh, will be in New Orleans on December 19 to discuss his first book, Dig Me a Grave: The Inside Story of the Serial Killer who Seduced the South. The Garden District Book Shop, located at 2727 Prytania Street, Suite 8, is hosting the event at 5:00 pm featuring a conversation with Jonathan Martin, Politico political bureau chief, who has called the book “a gothic crime tale” about “murder, corruption, and the underbelly of Southern justice.”
Dig Me a Grave is a true crime thriller that tells of Harpootlian’s real-life prosecution of Donald “Pee Wee” Gaskins, who murdered for convenience, drove a purple hearse to transport his victims, and ended his killing spree by blowing up another inmate on Death Row. The book, published by Kensington Books, will be released on December 16, 2025.
