Event Date: June 14, 2025 |
Jefferson Parish marked a monumental occasion in 2025 with its Bicentennial Ball, a dazzling event celebrating two centuries of history, culture, and community spirit. Held on Saturday, June 14th, at the transformed Lakeside Shopping Center in Metairie, the ball was a highlight of a year-long series of festivities commemorating the parish’s 200th anniversary.
Established by the Louisiana Legislature on February 11, 1825, and named in honor of Thomas Jefferson, the parish has grown from its early settlements to a vibrant and diverse region stretching from Lake Pontchartrain to Grand Isle. The Bicentennial Ball served as a grand tribute to this rich heritage.
The evening was hosted by the Jefferson Community Foundation, with proceeds supporting its mission to enhance the quality of life for residents through various community initiatives, including education and neighborhood revitalization. The venue itself became an elaborate backdrop for the celebration, featuring multiple stages, numerous food and beverage stations, and live entertainment that captivated nearly 1,500 guests. Attendees, including prominent business figures, elected officials, and local residents, enjoyed performances by celebrated artists and a lively atmosphere.
Beyond the glamour, the Bicentennial Ball underscored the parish’s resilience and progress, reflecting on its past while looking forward to a promising future. It was a testament to the strong bonds within the community and a memorable way to honor a significant milestone in Jefferson Parish’s ongoing story.
