Royal Feast and Phantoms: The Krewe of Boo Luncheon

Event Date: October, 23, 2025 }

The Krewe of Boo Royal Luncheon at Galatoire’s is the luxurious, celebratory curtain-raiser for New Orleans’ Official Halloween Parade weekend. This event is not just a high-end meal; it’s a collision of Mardi Gras-style royalty and the spooky, theatrical spirit of Halloween, offering a perfect launch for the weekend’s festivities.

A Taste of Tradition at Galatoire’s

The luncheon is held on the Friday afternoon before the main parade, annually taking place at the historic and elegant Galatoire’s Restaurant on Bourbon Street. Galatoire’s is famous for its classic French-Creole cuisine and its old-school New Orleans atmosphere, making it a fittingly opulent setting.

Attendees, which include the Krewe of Boo royalty (such as the King and Queen), krewe members, and VIP guests, are treated to a traditional multi-course New Orleans meal with complimentary wine service. This year’s event followed the usual schedule: a cocktail hour with passed hors d’oeuvres before the noon lunch service, offering a prime opportunity for mingling and socialising among the city’s most enthusiastic Halloween celebrants.

The Festive Second Line

The atmosphere is one of high energy and anticipation for the parade. However, the true New Orleans punctuation mark comes immediately after the dessert course. Following the lunch, guests spill out of the restaurant and onto the street for a traditional Jazz Second Line Parade.

Led by a brass band, this celebratory procession dances through the French Quarter to another historic New Orleans hotspot, often Pat O’Brien’s. This lively march, free and open to the public, extends the exclusive luncheon party into the streets, officially kicking off the festive, all-inclusive Halloween weekend. It’s a classic example of how New Orleans merges high society events with its unique, street-level culture, bridging the refined elegance of Galatoire’s with the vibrant, noisy joy of a classic Second Line.
