Event Date: September 28, 2025 |

New Orleans’ beloved non-profit and dining fixture, Café Reconcile, marked its quarter-century milestone with a series of celebrations, culminating in the “SUNday SOCIAL” event on September 28, 2025. Since its founding in 2000 by Fr. Harry Tompson, S.J., Craig Cuccia, and Tim Falcon, the Central City establishment served as far more than just a restaurant; it functioned as a powerful workforce development program for young adults.

The 25th-anniversary events underscored the organization’s enduring mission to transform the lives of Opportunity Youth aged 16–24. Throughout 2025, Reconcile honored its history and commitment to innovative training, which combined real-world culinary and hospitality experience in the café with essential life skills coaching and social support. These efforts successfully empowered over 2,000 young people since its inception.

The main celebration, SUNday SOCIAL, captured the true spirit of New Orleans community and culture. Guests enjoyed a laid-back evening featuring incredible live music from headlining local act Sunpie Barnes, signature cocktails from local bars, and curated food stations. The culinary offerings highlighted the talents of Reconcile alumni and workforce partner chefs, demonstrating the tangible success of the program.

Earlier in the month, a Community Day on September 5, 2025, celebrated the alumni community, featuring special lunch service, storytelling, and family-friendly mission-driven activities. The entire anniversary year, including the unveiling of a refreshed brand identity, served as a powerful reminder that every meal purchased at Café Reconcile directly fueled its mission, proving that when the city invests in its youth, the whole community thrives.
