The American Cancer Society’s Cure by Design Gala celebrated its 25th anniversary on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Mardi Gras World in New Orleans. The “Jardin de la Vie” (Garden of Life) themed event brought together the city’s leaders and philanthropists for an evening of enjoyment and purpose, aiming to raise a significant sum to fund crucial cancer initiatives.
The gala, presented by Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center, featured signature dishes and cocktails from renowned local establishments, lively entertainment from the show-stopping band Blue Rhythm, and an extensive silent auction. A major highlight of the night was the recognition of twenty esteemed Cure Champion Honorees and the presentation of the Heart & Soul Award to Morris Bart for his profound community commitment. .
Proceeds from the evening are dedicated to supporting the Patrick F. Taylor Hope Lodge on River Road—a free “home away from home” for cancer patients and their caregivers receiving treatment in the area. Funds will also fuel life-saving local patient programs, such as free lodging and transportation assistance, and Louisiana-based cancer research. This silver anniversary event further solidified its position as one of New Orleans’ premier philanthropic occasions in the fight to end cancer.
