Run for Your Life: The Krewe of Boo Zombie Run

[adrotate group="1"]

Event Date: October 25, 2025 |

The Krewe of Boo Zombie Run is a thrilling, costumed 2-mile race that officially kicks off the main parade day for New Orleans’ official Halloween parade, the Krewe of Boo. Unlike a standard fun run, this event blends athleticism with theatrical Halloween mayhem, turning a morning jog into a survival simulation through the city’s Warehouse District.

The Apocalypse Starts at Lucy’s

This year’s Zombie Run, which took place in the morning before the main parade, used Lucy’s Retired Surfers Bar & Restaurant on Tchoupitoulas Street as its base. Lucy’s served as both the registration point and the start/end line for the race. Participants—or “Survivors”—came dressed in elaborate costumes, ranging from fellow zombies and monsters to classic horror movie characters.

The challenge? Not only to complete the two-mile course but also to escape the “Zombie Killers”. These special chasers, often members of the Big Easy Rollergirls, were tasked with trying to “infect” the runners, adding a competitive and very New Orleans-specific twist to the morning run.

A Weekend of Spooktacular Fun

The Zombie Run is a crucial part of the Krewe of Boo’s entire weekend lineup. It embodies the city’s vibrant approach to celebration: an early morning race full of costumes and fun, setting the stage for the evening’s massive, spectacle-filled parade. The run itself is designed to be accessible to everyone, whether you’re a serious runner or just looking for a unique, themed walk with friends.

Finishing the run leads into a party atmosphere right at Lucy’s, often featuring music and a festive “quarantine zone” where the undead and the living can mingle and celebrate their survival (or successful infection). It’s an iconic way to start the biggest Halloween party in the city, merging fitness with the French Quarter’s trademark, theatrical flair.
