The City of New Orleans is making new changes regarding the COVID Rules and Regulations….with a New Orleans Mask Advisory. The city is asking everyone to wear a mask indoors when with people who are not immediate members of the family.
The alarming transmission data we’ve seen in the last two weeks, coupled with an inadequate vaccination rate, leaves us no choice. People who continue to refuse to take the lifesaving COVID vaccine are now also putting the entire community in jeopardy. We must take action now to slow the rapid spread of the Delta variant. ~New Orleans Health Department Director Dr. Jennifer Avegno
COVID 19 Cases Are Increasing
The number of new cases reported statewide have been increasing with the majority of those being among those who are unvaccinated. 97% of individuals who have been hospitalized have been unvaccinated. “Because there is so much virus circulating in the community, there is also an alarming increase in “breakthrough” cases among vaccinated New Orleanians. So far, the vast majority of breakthrough cases have been mild.”
I’m asking every single vaccinated New Orleanian to tell their story to a family member, neighbor, or colleague: that vaccines are safe, effective, and lifesaving. ~New Orleans Health Department Director Dr. Jennifer Avegno
According to the City, masking is one of the best ways to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. For the latest updates on coronavirus information and assistance in finding a testing or vaccination site, text COVIDNOLA to 77295 or go to ready.nola.gov/covid19.
